Long
Island
Deadman's
Cay. Classic Bahamas bonefishing: a hundred-square-mile
laguna of crystalline shallow water and fine smooth white sand flats;
this is the place for anglers who love to wade. It's a
protected area on the lee side of Long Island, with hundreds of
large and small flats. You could fish here a month, and still not
see more than a fraction of the habitat.
The guest house accommodates up to 10 anglers, and is situated directly
overlooking the miles of flats on the west (lee) side of the island.
The individual a/c units are small apartments; with kitchenette,
sitter, bedroom, and private bath. Dining is inside or outside on
a covered patio. Like our other places in the Bahamas, it is lovingly
owner-operated by local folks who love company, enjoy cooking native
dishes, and will tailor the schedule to accommodate your comfort
and pleasure.
Bonefish rule here, but you'll also see (and hopefully catch) small tarpon, jacks, barracuda, and snapper. Guides Ivan Knowles, his sons Elvis and Dwayne, and cousin Champ, are experts on flyfishing the area. They're equipped with Rahming Bonefishers, with 40 Hp Mercury Sea-Pro outboards. Don't hesitate to explore on your own in the off hours, either. There are miles of wade-friendly flats right outside the door of your room.
It's budget-priced, but you'll love the
hospitality, the fishing, and the comforts. Very favorably reviewed
in The Angling Report, and elsewhere.
Priced at $2,200 per person double occupancy
including 7 nights with meals, and 6 days of guided bonefishing.
